Spring Sunday Workouts

ZYFL is offering four workouts in April and May to help your player get a jump start on the upcoming season. Each workout will focus on two key position types (Defensive Backs & Wide Receivers, Running Backs & Line Backers and Defensive Line & Offensive Line) and present our young athletes with drills to help build the skills necessary to excel at those positions and gain a greater understanding of how each position helps the entire team achieve their goals. All Workouts are from 6:00PM to 7:15PM at Jennings Field (just west of the Zionsville Football Stadium). Dates and details for each workout are given below.

 Sunday April 14th
Focus: DB/WR (All PLAYERS ATTEND!)

6:00-6:10 Warm-ups

6:10-6:15 Agility
    Ladder footwork

6:15-6:25 Back pedal work
    5 lines slow mow
    5 lines full speed

    5 lines half-speed turn
    5 lines full speed turn

6:25-6:35 One v. One
    Turn on the gap

6:35-6:40 Route Work
    Quick hitch
    Quick Slant

    Quick out
    Quick fade

Stress plant foot and cut

6:40-6:45 One v. One
    Receiver vs. Corner

Sunday April 28th
Focus: DB/WR (All PLAYERS ATTEND!)

 6:00-6:10 Warm-ups

6:10-6:20 Agility
    Cone work/cuts

6:20-6:30 Back pedal work
    5 lines full speed
    5 lines full/turn

6:30-6:40 One v. One
    Back/hip and swat

 6:40-6:50 Route Work
    Quick hitch

    Quick Slant
    Quick out

    Quick fade
    Stress plant foot and cut

6:50-7:05 One v. One
    Receiver vs. Corner

Sunday May 5th
Focus: RB/LB (All PLAYERS ATTEND!)

6:00-6:10 Warm-ups

6:10-6:20 Agility
    Ladder work

          

6:20-6:35 Take hand Off-Cone Straight line cones-hard cut/switch hands

 6:35-6:50 Shuffle drill
    45 degree

6:50-7:00 one v one
    RB-Flats and Bubble routes

    LB-Back/hip and swat

 7:00-7:15    7v7


May 19th
Focus: OL/DL (All PLAYERS ATTEND!)

6:00-6:10 Warm-ups

6:10-6:20 Agility
    Ladder footwork

6:20-6:30 Blocking work
    Stances
    Blocking Sled/knees fire up

    Hit and drive

6:30-6:45 Dummy pad work
    Rip/swim moves

6:45-6:55 one v one half speed

6:55-7:15    7v7
